Will you be using traditional Thanksgiving recipes or new ones from the food channel or other sources?

Our family is deep in tradition on the holidays, so it rarely steers away from the original foods and recipes. I think it would be good to try something new sometime, but still those Turkey Day foods are sure difficult to not make. Would be great to sit down to a meal made by Paula Deen! Doggone it, she's not to be found anywhere on my family tree, but would love to be a guest at her Thanksgiving Day table! Will you be using traditional Thanksgiving recipes or new ones from the food channel or other sources?
My Thanksgiving dinner will be the one my mother always cooked and the one I have cooked for my family for 40 years. Nothing new to the table except Green-Bean Casserole that my daughter loves. Instead of a can of Cream of Mushroom Soup, she uses a can of Cream of Chicken soup. I can't wait! PoppyWill you be using traditional Thanksgiving recipes or new ones from the food channel or other sources?
There are certain traditional dishes that my family must have for a festival meal to be complete. That does not mean that we will not have new dishes included in our meal. It is always warming to fix certain dishes and acknowledge from whence they came. It is also wonderful to prepare something new that we have enjoyed during the past year if it does indeed compliment the traditional offerings.

Our Thanksgiving would not be the same if we did not prepare a fresh mincemeat pie with the mince that I shoot down by the Nueces River out here in Kinney County, Texas.
Since my family has three generations of chefs, I have always been encouraged to try different things. And, like everybody else, there have been the disappointments and the extreme successes. This year will be no different. I have my traditionals, but also, my new things. I think it is good to have the traditional things, it helps us to look back to the great memories. Gives us that ';warm, fuzzy'; feeling, and it's not all the turkey we eat.

Do the kind of holiday meal that makes you feel good. Enjoy it with great gusto. I certainly will.

And, have a great holiday, everybody!!!!!!
I'll be cooking traditional Thanksgiving recipes as I always do in memory of my mother who was a great cook. I used to sit at the table across from her when she was cutting all the vegetables and she would always give me bites of whatever she was cooking. Just smelling the food brings back so many good memories (crying now).

But I do cook a lot of recipes from the food network. I would love to try Paula's Turduckin - you know the chicken wrapped in the duck, wrapped in the turkey with stuffing between the layers. Looks like a lot of work, but delicious.
I'll bet Thanksgiving at Paula Deen's house is something else.

But, I fear that if I deviated from our traditional Thanksgiving feast my sons would disown me and my husband would whine for weeks and weeks. Apparently, it is acceptable to serve an extra side dish or dessert. No one ever complains about ';more'; food.

One year I served Cornish game hens. I still get jokes about ';Remember the year mom made those funny little birds.';

We did take the boys camping one Thanksgiving weekend many years ago. I cooked a traditional dinner ahead, froze it and reheated it over a camp fire. That was a big hit.

.
Ours will be traditional as far as we'll roast a turkey. But we have vegetarians in the family so we'll also have veggie dishes. Most of my sibs and my parents are on restrictive diets (diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol) so minimal fat, sugar, no heavy gravy, no cream sauces. Very basic and healthy.
I'll be consuming the ones they use at the homeless shelters if I don't find a job pretty soon.

We used to barbecue the turkey upside down in the Weber Cooker. We added hickory chips for the smoked flavor. The white meat had a grayish tint to it but it was SO moist and tasty.

I hear deep fried turkey is good too if you have the resources.
We have the traditional ones that our family has had forever and a day. And then we have a few new things too. Last year we had turkey and venison too.

It boils down to what everyone can do. Everyone is broke this year so we may have a little less than normal, but that's not the important part, of course. That is the getting together and the love that is shared.
At this point, I'm not planning to have turkey ... first year I can remember. My boys are going to their g/fs houses and I may be alone. I may take my sister out for dinner.

OK, so I'm feeling a little sorry for myself .... I'm a survivor and will suck it up and have a great day ... promise.

My boys don't know how I'm feeling and I don't intend for them to. They will spend time with me Friday after Thanksgiving. I've brought them up to live their own lives and be independent and ...

It's always traditional at our house. I hear great things about Deep Fried Whole Turkey but can't do it, since it doesn't allow for stuffing.

And there can't be anything different in the stuffing - just the same cut up toast, celery, onions, extra sage, poultry seasoning and butter.

Okay, now I'm beginning to drool.
Traditional when it comes to Thanksgiving ....

I do not watch the Food Channels ..

We set a Beautiful Family Table for the Holidays.

With recipes that come from family members.

I am sure Paula Deen has great recipes from her Family Tree.

We have are own..

My side dishes and dessert menu may vary but everyone insists on my turkey with cornbread dressing %26amp; giblet gravy every Thanksgiving %26amp; Christmas. Even when invited to one of the kids home for the holiday, I still get struck with fixing the turkey with the trimmings.
I'm actually making Paula Deen's potato casserole as a side dish this year. We always have mashed potatoes, but this casserole is like a big twice-baked potato with sour cream, cheddar cheese, bacon, and layers of sauteed onions and peppers. It sounds so yummy!
Definitely traditional, though I do make the pumpkin cream cheese pie that was in magazines a few years ago, none of us cared for pumpkin until i made it, and it is a hit..........though we eat it........long after the meal.
I like to have a mix of the traditional(turkey, stuffing roasted sweet potatoes) with some new sides and desserts.
I will be making the same Sage Giblet Stuffing recipe that my mom taught me because my kids expect it and I love it, too.

I usually vary recipes with my dessert or salads.
WELL.... LET'S SEE NOW....

My only recommendation for Thanksgiving dinner....

BE THANKFUL.... EAT.... AND ENJOY !!!!
Maybe Burger King or the Golden Arches. Which ever has the best bargains.
My family likes our traditional Thanksgiving meal.
Not a thing. TDay dinner at my son %26amp; daughter-in-laws house.
neither i will be dining out!!!
